3.4 Responding to a 2C Opening

A.      5 points & up ( positive response )

-          Bid: 2D

B.      0 – 4 points with 5 cards or more of spade

-          Bid: 2S

C.      0 – 4 points with 5 cards or more of heart

-          Bid: 2H

D.     0 – 4 points with balanced hand

-          Bid: 2NT

E.      0 – 4 points with 5 cards or more of club

-          Bid: 3C

F.       0 – 4 points with 5 cards or more of diamond

-          Bid: 3D

Note1: The 2C opening is artificial and forcing

Note2: If there happens to be an intervening bid over partner’s 2C opening, responder would pass to show the negative reply, there is no obligation to bid over an intervening bid, since opener has another chance to bid again anyway.
